Adoption Application
The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application. We also require a home check and if approved, an adoption contract and adoption fee. The adoption fee varies per dog depending on their medical needs and ranges from $250-$650. Once we receive your application, if it seems to be a good match, we will contact you to set up a time to meet the animal you are interested in. We ask that you complete our application prior to coming to meet our animals that way we can ensure the animal you are interested in will be a good match. We DO NOT operate on a first come basis but rather the best suited home for our animals. We typically only adopt in the Southern California area and we do not ship our animals. We wear a mask and practice social distancing when doing meets and home visits.
Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment. Please also remember the time and cost involved in owning an animal, which can be costly, ie: food, supplies, vet bills, emergencies, boarding, grooming, training, etc.
Please note the adoption process requires a nonrefundable minimum $10 donation to Smooch Pooch Dog Rescue to cover the expense and time involved in the potential adoption and to ensure your commitment to adoption. You can submit the donation via Venmo if you have a Venmo account. If you do not have Venmo, you will need to submit the donation via PayPal, then proceed to the adoption application and put the Paypal/Venmo transaction ID# when you submitted your payment. You DO NOT need a Paypal account to pay the $10 donation via Paypal. Our Paypal email is smoochrescue@yahoo.com or you can click on the donate button below to submit payment. Please complete our application only if you are ready and serious about adopting a pet and follow these instructions:
1. Make sure to read the pet's biography to ensure they are well suited for your lifestyle.
2. Please answer ALL questions honestly and completely. Failure to do so can result in your application not being processed.
3. Submit your nonrefundable minimum $10 donation via PayPal or Venmo. You can submit payment using the DONATE buttons on the application below. Make sure to put the name of the animal you are applying for in the Description of your payment. You can complete one application and a minimum $10 donation for multiple animals that you are interested in.
4. Record the Paypal or Venmo Transaction ID# on the adoption application where it asks for it.
5. Make sure to answer EVERY question on the application, DO NOT skip over any questions or it will not allow you to submit it. Once you submit the application, scroll back to the top of the page where it should tell you "thank you for you application and we will be in touch." If you are not able to submit the application, you likely skipped a question.
Please know that if you application is not approved for any reason, we do not refund your donation as this is goes to the time and expense involved in the adoption process. Completion of this application, meeting the animal and a home check does not guarantee adoption of a pet.
